Welcome to sheikh anta Diop Schools : Kindergarten ... Primary and Secondary School

Dear Parents

You have been the backbone of our institution since I founded it in 1994. To reach this level, I went through hard work, dedication and support from friends to mentors; from pupils to parents who chose Sheikh Anta Diop College as their educational institution.

Visitors to our school have always asked me why I named the school after “such a difficult name to pronounce” while others who know who Sheikh Anta Diop was ask “ why naming a school after such a scientific Machiavelli”? I always answer with risible words to the first, saying “Saint Paul, Saint Oberhozer, Greenwich college, Mountbatten high school, Montague primary, Bezedenhout combined school, etc.. are difficult names to pronounce than Anta Diop”! Well, as long as such “a difficult name” was not christened and blessed by the western God, it remains always a nightmare for every euro centred mentality. Had it been shake ant drop, though meaningless indeed, none would dare say “it is difficult to pronounce”.

To the second, though collective, we distribute to many parents, visitors and pupils a pamphlet in which we explain why we named our school after the great Africanist scholar Sheikh Anta Diop. To know more about this honourable son of Africa whom we hold as knowledge inspirer for all our pupils, you are welcomed to read an informative detailed article in this regard in this web site.

We believe that sheikh Anta Diop remains a patented knowledge-guru in the 20th century. Instead of shelving him somewhere and letting his name gather dust in educational oblivion, we decided to bring his existence to the new generations so that he could continue to inspire them as a scientific role model.

Parents of our pupils remain our greatest partners, supporters and, to some extent, customers as we are a private institution. The government, as well, is a hero in the shadow that whispers constructive pieces of advice to us. Without the elements that constitute the above team, our work would not be that great today.

We pride ourselves in delivering good services to the community and in constantly improving our approach in the domain of education to offer quality education that empowers our children – our future – to face the world with much confidence and ability to compete in this already merciless global village.

Owing to the fact that human being’s work is not perfect, we seek your comprehension and tolerance for any mistake our teaching team make in the process of their work. We therefore ensure and promise that we will always do our level best to provide quality and affordable education for all who confide in us and hand to us the responsibility of educating their children; because your children are our children, we are doing the work of the most responsible parents; even under trying conditions. Sheikh Anta Diop College is a one light house in an ocean of schools that toil on daily basis to educate world’s children.

We know that there are parents who are passionate about and loyal to Sheikh Anta Diop schools; them who are our marketing agents through the word of mouth recruiting and referring new parents and pupils to our school. We thank and salute your contribution and hereby take the solemn oath not to disappoint you in this noble work we assigned ourselves to accomplish.

There really is no business in the domain of education; but calling one self a private institution is a challenge for the mission that one aims at accomplishing. We realize that education is a call. We dare bring all parents to the awareness that without their paying school fees for their children; their school would feel a pinch of sabotage and their lack of interest in their children’s future. Compared to our retribution, we teachers are just making an apostolate duty.

The dedication and commitment that we daily display is nothing but a financial suicide attempt that we hit on a daily basis. Nevertheless, we stoically manage to produce bright high school finalists who annually aspire for the work market while other pursues their education at tertiary level. Furthermore, a teacher who volunteers to unpack the ignorance of a child and substitutes it with a fertile soil constitutionally deserves a pay as a motivational bonus for the work well done.

We therefore call upon all parents to shoulder our commitment and avoid us sending them reminder letters for non payment of school fees. Of course, education is everyone’s right. Your children’s teachers are always there to serve. However your support is the least demand they can make since they know you like your school and are privy of the charges such a mammoth work require to be carried out.

We have for too long entertained numerous campaigns of communication through newsletters, PTSA meetings, school party sessions, out of which splendid feedback have resulted and that is helping to enhance the effectiveness of the services that we have been delivering ever since. Your pieces of advice have strengthened our school discipline regulations, otherwise called “code of conduct”, which you amend and adopt yearly. Thanks to all these inputs, we remain a school that is not only scholarly well managed, but morally formative for every child that may be integrated worldwide.

Your support is always more than welcome!
